By Curtis Berleue | In what has been a busy winter, spring and now summer thus far in 2019, Davie Franek and his #28f Davie Franek Racing team competed this past weekend north of the border for four nights of Patriot Sprint Tour action, culminating with the Northern Summer Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway.

Saturday night, Franek and crew started the weekend off at Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, Ontario. Starting third in heat race number three, Franek ultimately fell one spot for a fourth place finish, placing him in the Bonnell’s Rod Shop Four Laps of Fame Dash. A third place finish in the dash put Franek in the 11th starting spot for the 25 lap A-Main. Over the course of the event, Franek was able to advance two spot for another top 10 on the season, coming home with a 9th place finish.

Sunday, the team continued further north to the tight 1/3 mile Cornwall Motor Speedway, nearing the border between Ontario and Quebec. With 18 cars signed into the pit area for a three heat race format, Franek’s draw entering the night lined him up third in heat race number two. Advancing one spot for a second place finish in the heat gave Franek enough passing points for the top 8 redraw, where he drew a 5th place starting spot for the 25 lap affair. Staying status quo for the duration of the event, Franek came home with a 5th place finish.

The third and fourth events of the 2019 PST Canadian swing were contested on Monday and Tuesday at Ohsweken Speedway as part of the Northern Summer Nationals event. Starting 8th in heat race number one on Monday night, Franek was able to advance up to 6th over the course of 8 laps, however the #28f was relegated to the B-Main as only the top 4 finishers qualified. In B-Main number one, Franek started second and advanced to the lead picking up the win to transfer to the A-Main. Starting 21st, Franek was able to make forward progress and passed 11 cars for a final finish of 10th place, his third top 10 of the weekend.

Tuesday brought the fourth and final event of the 2019 PST Canadian swing and championship night of the Ohsweken Speedway Northern Summer Nationals. With 45 cars signed into the pit area, the Davie Franek Racing #28f lined up 7th in heat race number three. Passing three cars, Franek came home with a 4th place finish locking him in to the A-Main event. Starting 12th, Franek was able to once again advance to another top 10 finish by passing two cars and finishing in the 10th spot.

This coming weekend, Franek will first compete with the Empire Super Sprints at Freedom Motorsports Park on Friday, before returning to Patriot Sprint Tour action on Saturday for the $4,000 to win Outlaw Summer Nationals.
