By Curtis Berleue | On the heels of an incredibly successful season, Davie Franek was officially crowned the 2019 Patriot Sprint Tour champion after taking the green flag in the make-up feature from 5/25 at the Fonda Speedway on 9/27.
The held over Earl Halaquist Memorial was rather uneventful for the Sussex, NJ driver. After 30 laps of competition, Franek ended up finishing in the 6th spot. More importantly, he secured the 2019 championship, his first with the Patriot Sprint Tour.
En-route to his championship, Franek scored four wins out of 20 starts. Impressively, he did not have a finish outside of the top 10 in a full points paying event, and racked up a total of 9 top five finishes as well.
For the regularly scheduled $3,000 to win Fonda 200 weekend A-Main, Franek was involved in a scary incident on lap 16, flipping over the fence in turn two and out of the track completely. After being transported to a local hospital, he was released and the team traveled back to NJ to regroup.
While no firm plans have been made as of yet, Davie Franek intends to be back on track by the end of the 2019 season. Davie and everyone at Davie Franek Racing would like to thank each and every person who reached out after his wreck at Fonda and in the weeks following. Your support and well wishes are greatly appreciated!
