By Curtis Berleue | This past weekend, current Patriot Sprint Tour point leader Davie Franek headed north of the border from his Sussex, NJ home to the Ohsweken Speedway for the 2019 edition of the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
The Friday night portion of the 2019 CSCN started off with the driver of the #28f rolling off on the pole of heat race number three. A 5th place finish in the heat would line Franek up 11th to start the first triple 15-lap event. Over the course of 15 laps, Franek was able to make forward progress for an eighth place finish.
Saturday night, the Sussex, NJ drive was in time trial flight number three, where he was 7th fastest in the flight with a time of 15.403 seconds. Starting on the pole of heat race number 5, Franek finished second to third place starting Parker Price-Miller. The second place finish in his heat meant that Franek would transfer directly to the 35-lap $10,000 to win main event. Lining up 16th, Franek was unable to complete all 35 laps and finished 27th – only his 9th time finishing outside of the top 10 in 56 starts thus far in 2019.
This weekend, Franek will return once again to Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the 4th annual Outlaw Fall Nationals paying $5,000 to win on Saturday September 21st. The Sussex, NJ driver is looking to repeat on his 2018 victory in the event, where he dominated the field over the course of 27 laps in memory of Greg Hodnett.
