By Curtis Berleue | Davie Franek and team took a bit of a mid-season break this past weekend, only racing once over the course of five days as opposed to the 3 and four race weekends that have become the norm in 2019. The Davie Franek Racing teams weekend was originally slated to start off with the Empire Super Sprints at Brewerton Speedway on Friday August 16th, however with a bleak forecast the team decided to forego the event and focus on the Dirty Jersey event with URC on Tuesday August 20th at the New Egypt Speedway.

A rare home state appearance for DFR started off with the 4th place starting position in heat race number one. Franek would cross the line second, however he was declared the winner after Steve Buckwalter didn’t cross the scales after the heat and was disqualified. In the redraw, Franek drew the third place starting spot for the A-Main.

Rolling off 3rd for the A-Main, Franek would take the lead in the opening laps and would never look back.

“The lap traffic was definitely duking it out for sure,” stated an elated Franek in victory lane. “I was fortunate enough, we had a good enough car to move around and I could hit the bottom when I needed to.”

This coming weekend, Franek will resume the championship hunt with the Patriot Sprint Tour at a track he has a perfect score at thus far – the Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, NY. In two total visits to the 1/3 mile bullring (both in 2019), Franek has taken home top honors twice and looks to make it a clean sweep on the year this Saturday.
