By Curtis Berleue | After opting to attend a personal commitment Friday night and foregoing the NY Nationals preliminary events, Davie Franek and crew headed north Saturday to Land of Legends Raceway for the inaugural NY Sprint Nationals worth $5,000 to the winner.

Going in to the night, Franek lined up seventh in heat race number three. Tough track conditions led to an 8th place finish for the Sussex, NJ driver, relegating him to the 15 lap B-Main.

Starting 14th in the B-Main, Franek was able to make forward progress to a 10th place finish, but was unable to transfer to the A-Main based on his finish. A win at the NY oval earlier in the season, however, made him a guaranteed starter and the driver of the #28f was ready to roll off as the 25th starter before Mother Nature interfered.

After a short rain delay, the remainder of the event was postponed to the scheduled rain date of Sunday, however Franek and crew decided to head back home and prepare for the upcoming week of racing.

This weekend, Franek and crew turn their attention to the 14th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals held at the Ohsweken Speedway. Paying $10,000 to win on Saturday, the New Jersey driver looks to improve on a pair of top 10s earlier in the season at the Canadian track in pursuit of the top prize.
