By Curtis Berleue | With the northeast race season now in full swing, New Jersey driver Davie Franek got on track three times this past weekend netting two top 5’s with the NY based Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints and a 21st place finish with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

Friday night saw the 28F team roll into Dundee, NY’s Outlaw Speedway for the first race of the Lucas Oil ESS season. Timing 3rd in his hot lap group with a 13.043, Franek would subsequently start and then finish third in heat three – good enough to make the redraw. In the redraw, he pulled a 9, lining him up 9th for the A-Main. Through many cautions and a lengthy red-flag period, he was able to advance the 28F 6 positions and finish third rounding out the podium.

On Saturday, Franek and crew continued on to Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, NY for another night of ESS action. For the second night in a row, he timed third fastest in his group, lining him up third in heat two. Over the course of the 10-lap heat Franek was able to get by the 87 of Jason Barney and 56 of Billy VanInwegen for the win, putting him in the redraw for the second straight night.

Drawing the third starting position, the driver of the 28F was able to move up one position in throughout the course of the A-Main for a second place finish – good enough to secure a 10-point lead over Jason Barney atop the ESS standings after two events.

After two days off, the crew dropped their 410 between the rails of the Rapid Tire 28F for a night of action with the World of Outlaws. In time trials Franek qualified 22nd, relegating him to an 8th place starting spot in heat one. He was able to move up two positions and finish 6th, lining him up to start 16th in the A-Main, where he would eventually finish 21st.

Franek will return to action four times this coming weekend starting on Thursday May 23rd at New Egypt (NJ) Speedway (URC), Friday May 24th at Brewerton (NY) Speedway (ESS), Saturday May 25th at either Fonda (NY) Speedway (PST), Fulton (NY) Speedway (ESS) or Selinsgrove (PA) Speedway (URC) dependent on weather, and Sunday May 26th at Utica-Rome (NY) Speedway (ESS).
