By Curtis Berleue | There has been little to no rest for Davie Franek and his Davie Franek Racing #28f crew thus far in 2019. Another weekend full of racing netted in two more top 10’s, keeping the teams top 10 percentage right at 82%.
Starting off the weekend, Franek and crew made the tow to Freedom Motorsports Park located near Arcade, NY for another round with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Starting out the night in group two for timed hot laps, Franek was the E3 Spark Plugs fast time winner for his group. With an invert of 0, that set him on the pole for the heat race, where he ultimately fell to a second place finish, still good enough to land in the redraw.
Drawing the 9th starting position for the A-Main, Franek was ale to make a few moves with tough track conditions and rally for a 7th place finish.
The following night, the #28f made a stop at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY on the way back to New Jersey for the $4,000 to win Patriot Sprint Tour/Empire Super Sprints co-sanctioned Outlaw Summer Nationals. With a second place run in heat race number two for the second night in a row, Franek gained enough passing points to participate in the top 8 redraw. Franek would draw starting spot number four for the 30-lap main event. In a race that went green to checkered with no cautions, the #28f came home 6th and was able to maintain his Patriot Sprint Tour points lead.
This coming weekend, Franek will continue his title hunt with the Patriot Sprint Tour at Outlaw Speedway as part of their annual NASCAR night program on Friday, August 2. The following night, the team will make the short drive through the finger lakes to Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY to compete with the Empire Super Sprints.
